Venue History
Mountain View Amphitheater represents a relatively new addition to the Western Pennsylvania entertainment landscape. The venue’s development began when outdoor performance spaces were gaining renewed appreciation, offering music fans an opportunity to enjoy live performances in a natural setting. Its establishment has added a mid-sized concert option to the greater Pittsburgh area’s venue portfolio.
Mountain View Amphitheater opened its doors in 2020, making it one of the newer entertainment destinations in Allegheny County. The venue was developed with the specific vision of creating a flexible performance space that could accommodate various event sizes while showcasing the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape. Situated in Cheswick with stunning views of the Allegheny Valley, the location was strategically chosen to balance accessibility with scenic appeal.
Rich Engler, Pittsburgh’s top concert promoter from the mid-1970s to 2000, was brought on as the venue’s executive producer. The property’s owner approached Engler with the idea of opening a venue at the location. After touring the site, Engler agreed to serve as executive producer, bringing his extensive industry experience and contacts to the new amphitheater, which helped establish credibility for the new venue from its inception.
